RON FRANCE — BASS
Ron has been a long time participant in the Central New York and National Music Scenes.
During the 1990’s Ron was the bassist for jazz vocalist Nancy Kelly whose first album on Amherst Records, went to number eight on the Billboard Jazz Charts. From there Ron went on to become the touring bassist for Doc Severinson of “Tonight Show with Johnny Carson”. Ron’s Long time collaboration with vocalist Ronnie Leigh and keyboardist Larry Arlotta led to two Grammy nominated CD’s for their work on the CD “Song for my father”. Ron also recorded and toured with Jeff Tyzik, Alan Vizzuti (Chic Corea), Cabo Frio, John Nyerges and Eye Level.
Ron has recently shared the stage with such luminaries as Joe Locke; Pee Wee Ellis; Fred Wesley; Maceo Parker; Sherman Roberston; Francine Reed; Felix Cavaliere & Gene Cornish (The Rascals); Kathy Sledge; Carmine Appice; Bat McGrath; Randy Bachman; Pat Travers; The Cowsills; Bob McGrath; Russell Thompkins, Jr. (The Stylistics); and Reggie Torian (The Impressions).
Ron is currently a full time member of Prime Time Funk with Jimmy Richmond and Dave Cohen. PTF has played multiple times at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Club in Paris as well as at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, and has shared the stage with some of the world’s most respected acts: Earth, Wind & Fire; Medeski, Martin & Wood; The Brothers Johnson; Tom Scott; Terrence Blanchard; The Temptations; Average White Band; Stanley Clarke; Lenny White; Larry Carlton and John Scofield.
